WOW another year is done!

It has been almost 3 years since I have blogged that means it’s been a long time.

I have finished another year of teaching and returned to pastoring this past year.  I am the pastor Garrett’s Creek Community Church  in Wayne, West Virginia and I teach 4th grade at Andrews Heights Elementary in Tornado, West Virginia.

Long Time

I seem to never blog regularly; however, I have finished another school year. This year I taught Kindergarten I loved it. Next year I will be teaching 2nd at a school that was 26 miles closer to home. I figure by the time I reach six years in public school at this rate I will have taught every grade that I am licesened to teach. Well no promises that I will keep on bloging but here is my best try.

Teaching Kindergarten

Until this year I thought that Kindergarten teachers had it made. I have found out that I was wrong! I have been teaching Kindergarten for just over a month and it is the heardest teaching I have ever done. What I think will take 15 minutes takes an hour. I never set down and what they learn in kindergarten I am teaching 15 curious minds to read and do basic math. THis is the hardest but the most rewarding teaching I have ever done. I LOVE IT.

Its Been A Long Time

I see it has been almost a year since I have posted anything on my blog. It has been a busy year. I taught my first full year in a public school. I completed my Masters of Education from Lincoln Memorial University. Also my wife and myself planned and lead our Districts Children's Camp, now we are planning on moving to West Virginia in 3 weeks.

SOAP BOX

I am on a soap box this morning. My wife and myself have just finished a summer filled with children's ministry. We have directed a children's camp, did children's worship at a family camp and conducted a Vacation Bible School at a church. Thankfully we are both employed by a school district which gives us our summers off. I have pastored for 13 years with for of that being a children's pastor, currently I do not have an appointment, but I lead children's worship each Sunday I am home at my local church. Which has not been a lot this summer.

Here is my soap box: Why do church members think that real ministry doesn't take place with children? That children's ministry is baby sitting at the worse and at the best a great way to get new families in the church.

Why can't it be ministry just for ministry sake for children. Don't children need GOD?
